06-16 R6 Wheel Installation Tool Instructions
1. Upon receipt of your tool, install the pointed piece into the hollow end of the axle (right side). This can be done by tapping it in place with a plastic hammer or block of wood. The piece is to remain in place and will not fall out while riding.
2. The next time the wheel is off and you are preparing to put it back on install the brake caliper in its normal position. Make sure the caliper is resting correctly in the holding tab on the swingarm and is flush against the inside of the swingarm.
3. Insert the dowel into the right side of the swingarm and the caliper. The brake pads may need to be spread apart slightly.
4. The axle should always be greased slightly, whether using the tool or not. If the chain has been replaced, the adjusters may need to be loosened to allow the wheel to position correctly.
5. Raise the wheel into position and put the chain on. Make sure the rear brake disc inserts between the pads correctly.
6. Position the wheel as close to alignment with the swingarm as possible, then insert the axle. Once the axle gets to the dowel, the dowel will be pushed out of place as the axle comes through the right side.
7. Install the rear axle nut loosely and adjust the chain, then torque the axle nut to manufacture specifications.
