2022-2024 YZF-R7 Installation Instructions for:
FRAME SLIDERS
FORK SLIDERS
REAR AXLE SLIDERS
WARNING: The installation of all parts in these installation instructions must be performed by a qualified motorcycle mechanic who is using the correct tools and who understands the correct use of all tools required to complete the installation.
Frame Sliders Installation
Tools you will need:
Torque wrench
3/8 or ½" drive ratchet
17mm socket
10mm hex (Allen) driver
Medium length extension
NOTE: These sliders bolt directly to the engine mounts of the bike and require no modifications or cutting of the
fairings, frame, or any other part of the motorcycle.
- The right side of the bike is the side with the throttle, and the left side of the bike is the side with the clutch
lever.
- Install one side at a time- do not loosen both sides at the same time.
1. Locate the forward engine mount on the right side (fig A).
2. With the 17mm socket and ratchet, loosen (counter-clockwise rotation when viewed from the side of the bike)
the factory engine mount screw and remove it from the engine mount.
Both frame sliders and mounting screws should be exactly the same.
3. Install frame slider where the factory engine mount screw was removed. The screw should start and thread in with very little resistance. WARNING: THE WASHER MUST BE ON THE SCREW BEFORE INSTALLING THE SLIDERS
4. Torque the screw to the factory torque specification (same as factory screw).
For the left side, the mounting point is in the same area of the engine as the right.
Repeat steps 2-4 to complete the installation for the left side.
If you damage one slider in a crash or drop, you can order just the side you need on our website.
R7 Fork Sliders Installation
Items needed:
- 5mm Hex/Allen wrench (2)
- Blue thread locker (Loctite)
- Red thread locker (Loctite)
1. Apply a small amount of red thread locker to the screw threads of the shortest
screw (30mm) that was supplied with the fork sliders set.
2. Attach the slider with the recessed base to the aluminum fork slider rod. In some
cases, the rod may have a small amount of residue left over from the anodizing
process- if so, the screw might not thread in real easy but it should thread in with a
small amount of force. If you also ordered the rear axle sliders, use the shortest of
the two rods for the fork sliders.
3. After tightening, insert rod/slider assembly into the right side of the axle. The
slider base should fit over the screw head that would normally be used to
loosen/tighten the axle.
4. Apply blue thread locker to the longer screw in the set (70mm, the only one left)
and install the slider with the flat base onto the left side fork. It may take a second
to find the rod in the axle and get the threads started but just be sure the screw
starts straight.
5. Hold the screw on the opposite side with another 5mm hex wrench and tighten
the left side with a small amount of torque. CAUTION!!!! The threads in the rod
will strip if too much force is applied to the screws when tightening.
The fork slider assembly should not have any lateral movement once tightened.
R7 Rear Axle Sliders Installation
Items needed:
- 5mm Hex/Allen wrench (2)
- Blue thread locker (Loctite)
- Red thread locker (Loctite)
1. Apply a small amount of red thread locker to the screw threads of one of the
60mm screws that was supplied with the rear axle sliders set.
2. Attach the slider with the extended base to the aluminum rear axle slider rod. In
some cases, the rod may have a small amount of residue left over from the
anodizing process- if so, the screw might not thread in real easy but it should
thread in with a small amount of force. If you also ordered the fork sliders, use the
longest of the two rods for the rear axle sliders.
3. After tightening, insert rod/slider assembly into the right side of the axle. The
slider base should fit into the end of the axle.
4. Apply blue thread locker to the other 60mm screw included with the set and
install the slider with the recessed base onto the left side of the rear axle. It may
take a second to find the rod in the axle and get the threads started but just be
sure the screw starts straight.
5. Hold the screw on the opposite side with another 5mm hex wrench and tighten
the left side with a small amount of torque. Do not over tighten. CAUTION!!!! The
threads in the rod will strip if too much force is applied when tightening.
The rear axle slider assembly should not have any lateral movement once
tightened. Allow several minutes for the thread locker to set up before riding the
motorcycle.
