All OES Frame Sliders sets sold after 1-18 are 100% recyclable. The plastic portion of the slider is high density polyethylene (HDPE). In recycling terms, HDPE Is considered a #2 plastic. If you regularly recycle, you’re familiar with the recycling codes on bottoms of plastic containers and other items made of plastic. The majority of Our frame sliders manufactured after the start of 2018 will be me marked somewhere on each slider with those same codes (the recycling symbol with the number 2 and HDPE to denote plastic type). If the code is not there the part will not be accepted at recycling facilities and simply means it was a part manufactured before our changeover to HDPE. OES Sliders were previously made of UHMW plastic which is not as recyclable as HDPE. Otherwise, the characteristics of the two types of plastic are very similar and both make for very good frame slider materials- the changeover to HDPE was based solely on recycling reasons.
When a frame slider is damaged, the aluminum spacer inside the slider can be easily removed and all pieces of the kit can be recycled, including slider, spacer, and mounting bolt.
Our manufacturing process produces scrap which is also recycled.
At this time, however, the plastic used for smaller items like fork sliders, bar ends, axle sliders, and spools are not recyclable.
