2008-2009 Yamaha R6 Installation Instructions

Tools you will need:
Ratchet- 3/8 or ½” drive
Long extension
12mm socket
8mm Allen/hex driver
Torque wrench(optional)

Install one side at a time- do not remove both engine screws together.

Left side:

1. Locate the left engine mount screw (12mm head) that runs through the frame and into the engine. The screw
head is visible through the large opening in the side fairing. The fairing does not need to be removed to access
the screw. Remove the screw with your 12mm socket and ratchet.

2. Remove the pre-installed slider from its bracket.
Caution!! It is very important not to get the screw that
holds the slider to the bracket (the one you just removed), and the screw that holds the bracket to
the engine mount mixed up. The two screws have different threads and you will damage either the
threads in the engine or the bracket if the screws are mixed up.

Notice: Two washers are shipped on the left side slider offset bracket screw. One is to be installed
beneath the offset bracket (between the bracket and frame), and the other is used with the bracket
screw.

3. Lightly lubricate the supplied screw threads and install the bracket. Install the bracket with the correct screw-
just to make sure, the correct screw has a fine thread pitch and should thread in by hand or with very little force.
Tighten the screw only slightly, so the bracket can be moved and adjusted by hand.

4. Position the bracket in a way which will allow the slider to be mounted without contacting the fairing.

5. Final tighten the bracket screw. If using a torque wrench (recommended), tighten to 33 ft/lbs.

6. Install the slider using the remaining screw (course thread). Loctite can be used and is recommended on the
slider-to-bracket screw. Tighten to 25-30 ft/lbs if using a torque wrench (recommended).

Right Side:

1. Locate and remove the factory engine mount screw (shiny 12mm head)- it is visible from the side of the bike.
The fairing does not need to be removed for access.

2. Lightly lubricate the supplied screw threads. The right side slider can now be installed with the supplied screw.
Thread the screw in by hand the first few turns making sure not to cross-thread it. Tighten to 33 ft/lbs if using a
torque wrench (recommended).

Special Notes

* You can keep the factory shine of your OES frame sliders by using a wax or polish on them when cleaning the
bike. We use a liquid polish on them before shipping. Some oxidation will occur over time if this is not done, but
will not decrease the slider durability.

* Caution: Do not use high alkaline based detergents to clean the offset bracket. Use of harsh detergents could
cause discoloration of the anodized finish of the bracket.

* You can also order just one side if you have an incident that damages a slider. Please call or visit our website to
order a replacement slider.
