2006-2007 Yamaha R6 Installation Instructions

Tools you will need:
Ratchet- 3/8 or ½” drive
Extension
12mm socket
8mm  hex driver
4mm hex key
Small pointed screwdriver
Torque wrench(optional)

Install one side at a time- do not remove both engine bolts together.

1. Start on the left side by removing the fairing panel- this has four Allen head screws and one push pin. The push
pin is located on the inner part of the panel near the aluminum part of the radiator hose and can be removed by
pushing in on the center of it with the small pointed screwdriver. The panel also has locking tabs on the back  that
must be disengaged- do this by sliding the panel forward.

2. Locate the engine mount screw- its chrome plated  (12mm head) and runs through the frame and into the engine.
Remove the screw with your 12mm socket and ratchet.

3. Remove pre-installed slider from bracket and install the bracket using the supplied screw.
Caution!! It is very
important not to get the screw that holds the slider to the bracket (the one you just removed), and the
screw that holds the bracket to the engine mount mixed up. The two screws have different threads and
you will damage either the threads in the engine or the bracket if the screws are mixed up.

Notice: Two washers are shipped on the left side slider offset bracket screw. One is to be installed
beneath the offset bracket (between the bracket and frame), and the other is used with the bracket
screw.

4. Lightly lubricate (any type of automotive grease or oil will work) the threads of the supplied screw. Install the
bracket with the correct screw. To confirm, the correct screw has a fine thread pitch and should thread in by hand or
with very little force. Tighten the screw only slightly, so the bracket can be moved and adjusted by hand.

5. Re-install the panel. The panel has locking tabs on the back that must be engaged by sliding it toward the rear of
the bike. You won’t need to install the panel screws at this point, you just need to get an idea of the bracket
alignment. Hold the slider up to the bracket and make sure you have equal clearance between the panel and main
fairing.

6. Remove the panel and final tighten the bracket screw. If using a torque wrench(recommended), tighten to 33 ft/lbs.

7. Re-install the panel, this time adding the screws and push pin, then install the slider using the remaining screw
(course thread). Loctite is recommended on this screw. Tighten the screw to 25-30 ft/lbs if using a torque wrench
(recommended).

Right Side:

1. Locate and remove the engine mount screw (shiny 12mm  head)- it is visible from the side of the bike and no
fairing or panel needs to be removed for access.

2. Lightly lubricate the supplied screw threads. The right side slider can now be installed with the supplied screw.
Thread the screw in by hand the first few turns making sure not to cross-thread it. Tighten to 33 ft/lbs if using a
torque wrench(recommended).

Special Notes

* You can keep the factory shine of your OES frame sliders by using a wax or polish on them when cleaning the bike.
We use a liquid polish on them before shipping. Some oxidation will occur over time if this is not done, but will not
decrease the slider durability.

* Caution: Do not use high alkaline based detergents to clean the offset bracket. Use of harsh detergents could
cause discoloration of the anodized finish of the bracket.

* You can also order just one side if you have an incident that damages a slider. Available on our website.
